There are 3 important first steps to keeping complex systems working for decades:
- Realize you don’t have to start from scratch, others have established the fundamentals of good sustainment.
- Realize you might be many things and have many responsibilities and tasks, but you are a primarily a sustainer. As a sustainer, your mission is the system’s mission. This means saving money is secondary to mission success.
- Attend one of my briefings such as the one I gave at the AIAA LA-LV New Space conference that was held this month in Redondo Beach.
